Senior Loan Operations Specialist

Summary:

The Senior Loan Ops Specialist is responsible for the end‑to‑end administration, servicing, and operational oversight of a portfolio of conventional loans, including commercial, consumer, and residential products. This role serves as a subject-matter expert and escalation point within loan operations, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, service quality, and operational efficiency from post‑closing through payoff.

 Job Functions:

  • Oversee daily servicing activities for commercial, consumer, and residential conventional loans, including:
    • Payment processing and application
    • Escrow administration (taxes, insurance, PMI)
    • Interest rate and payment change adjustments
    • Loan boarding, maintenance, and system updates
    • Payoffs, releases, and loan modifications
  • Serve as senior escalation point for complex servicing issues, borrower inquiries, and lender or investor requests.
  • Review closed loan files for accuracy, completeness, and system readiness prior to servicing transfer.
  • Ensure proper setup of loan terms, collateral, fees, rates, and amortization schedules.
  • Coordinate servicing transfers, participations, assumptions, renewals, extensions, and maturity processing.
  • Administer complex commercial loan structures, including variable rates, participations, construction loans, and covenant tracking.
  • Monitor covenant compliance and reporting requirements; follow up on discrepancies.
  • Support loan restructures, modifications, and non‑complex workout activities in partnership with risk teams.
  • Ensure loan servicing practices comply with applicable regulations, investor requirements, and internal policies (e.g., Reg Z, RESPA, state‑specific rules).
  • Participate in audits, exams, and internal quality control reviews; remediate findings as needed.
  • Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, and data quality issues; recommend improvements.
  • Act as a mentor and resource to junior loan operations and servicing staff.
  • Assist with training, procedures development, and process documentation.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Lending, Compliance, Finance, IT, and Vendors to resolve issues and drive efficiencies.
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training, suitable to their position within the bank.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in loan operations and/or servicing, with exposure to commercial, consumer, and residential conventional loans.

 Skills and Competencies:

  • Advanced understanding of loan lifecycle management, servicing systems, and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements impacting loan servicing.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex servicing scenarios independently.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Physical Requirements:

  •  Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Work Arrangement:

  •  Remote
  • Occasional travel may be required for trainings or meetings.
