Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc. 

Summary: 

The Director of Loan Operations will oversee all aspects of loan operations, including managing the government-guaranteed loan (GGL) processes for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans. This role sets the direction, determines long-term business needs, and sets strategic planning for business growth. The Director will lead a team responsible for loan processing, servicing, and boarding while collaborating with various internal departments, as well as Guidehouse Services (SBA Fiscal Transfer Agent) to ensure smooth operational flow, data integrity and reporting accuracy.

 

Job Functions:

  • Overall responsibility for functions within Loan Operations.
  • Reports key performance indicators and management analysis to senior management on a regular basis.
  • Ensures controls and risk procedures are in place to mitigate errors.
  • Determines appropriate course of action timely for internal and external audit findings.
  • Ensures internal and external audit findings receive sound formal responses and remediation of noted issues are carried out; ensures deadlines are met for response and resolution.
  • Ensures all activities are in accordance with company and regulatory risk and compliance requirements.
  • Reviews and approves business processes and ensures necessary procedure changes are executed.
  • Oversee the GGL Loan Sale process from preparation of bids through booking and servicing.
  • Ensure resolution with Guidehouse Services (SBA Fiscal Transfer Agent) for all matters related to SBA loans, including report submissions, reconciliations and communications.
  • Ensure compliance with SBA regulations, company policies, and government lending standards.
  • Maintain detailed records and generate reports on loan sales, purchases, and investor transactions for executive management and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead and mentor the loan operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staff responsible for loan servicing, loan boarding, and investor relations.
  • Work closely with the closing, credit, portfolio management and compliance teams to ensure seamless handoff of loans and efficient servicing throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the finance department on loan sale accounting and settlement processes.
  • Oversees policy and procedure development and enhancement within the department.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve loan operations processes, leveraging technology and best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in loan operations, including significant experience with SBA or government-guaranteed lending.
  • Must possess working knowledge of SBA SOP’s 50-10 (most recent) & 50 57 3; USDA regulations.
  • Knowledge of lending regulatory compliance such as Regulation(s) B, P, FEMA flood insurance requirements, Regulation X, ECOA, SCRA and BSA/AML requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of SBA regulations and loan buying and selling processes.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in loan management software and MS Office applications; in-depth experience with Fiserv preferred.
  • Technical skills to institute policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Strong interpersonal skills facilitating maximization of working relationship with customers and customer referral sources, bank presidents and bankers throughout region as well as direct reports.
  • Ability to effectively delegate and manage workflow while setting priorities for direct reports to meet the goals of the Bank.
  • Strong analytical skills with problem solving abilities. 
  • Good working knowledge of other areas / divisions of the bank.  Ability to work with colleagues and associates to analyze, develop and implement new strategies for managing risk in all areas in the bank.

  • Ready to respond with confidence, speed, agility, good judgment, and urgency as directed by the President of the SBA Department or other executive management officers.
  • Interaction with regulators, internal auditors, external auditors, the SBA and USDA to ensure compliance with Federal and State lending compliance laws and regulations.
  • Participate in all required compliance training, including internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc. 
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training, suitable to their position within the bank.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
