IT Project Manager

Position Summary: 

The IT Project Manager will oversee the successful completion of the bank’s IT projects. A key element of this role is to clearly and effectively communicate project objectives to team members/ sponsors/stakeholders and ensure that they understand their specific roles/responsibilities. Success in this role will be demonstrated by ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget and within the confines of the bank’s Project Management Policy.

Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


Essential Duties:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and quality assurance, to outline and define project requirements and deliverables prior to initiation (high level business analysis functions).
  • Develop detailed project plans, goals, schedules, and status reports, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Manage project risks, issues, and changes, keeping management informed and implementing mitigation strategies as necessary.
  • Coordinate project team members and develop schedules and individual responsibilities.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, steering committees, and project reviews to discuss project goals and progress and to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Act as liaison with sponsors/stakeholders, vendors, and end-users regarding project requirements.
  • Utilize project management tools (Monday.com, Atlassian/Jira, etc.) to track project performance and schedule adherence.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of assigned component projects.
  • Act as a testing/QA resource for assigned projects to ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory requirements, the project’s objectives, and internal bank policies/procedures.
  • Mentor and guide junior project managers and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training suitable to their position with the bank.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of demonstrated experience in IT project management, preferably serving in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise-wide IT projects, such as system conversions, data migrations, fintech integrations, infrastructure upgrades, or cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Experience working in a banking or financial services industry (ideally SBA lending) is preferred.
  • Certifications such as PMP, CAPM, or equivalent is preferred. 


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal/negotiation skills to coordinate with team members and management
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to handle any issues that occur during project completion
  • Strong organization and time management skills to keep projects on track and within budget
  • Excellent resource planning and task scheduling skills
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, regulatory compliance, and financial systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools (e.g., Monday.com, Atlassian/Jira, etc.)
  • Experience working with third-party vendors, contract negotiations, and vendor risk management.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. 
  • Full-time weekday position. Requires occasional evening and weekend hours to assist with off-hour IT tasks.
