Technical Business/Systems Analyst

Position Summary: 

In the Technical Business/Systems Analyst role, you will bridge the gap between the Business Analyst (BA) team and the Development teams, ensuring that banking systems and applications align with business needs and objectives. This role involves gathering and analyzing technical requirements by enhancing the BA team’s business requirements, designing technical solutions, and supporting system implementations while collaborating with IT teams, business stakeholders, and third-party vendors. A key element of this role is to clearly and effectively communicate between the BA and Development teams to ensure project objectives/requirements.


Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


Essential Duties:

  • Collaborate with the Business Analyst team, Development teams, and vendors to enhance and clarify business requirements, translating them into detailed technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Design and document technical solutions aligned with business, technical, and regulatory requirements, and participate in system and application design discussions to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Support development teams by providing business context, clarifying technical constraints, and assisting throughout coding, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Coordinate and participate in system implementation, integration, and user acceptance testing, including defining test cases and supporting quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure, security teams, and external vendors to ensure all solutions comply with banking regulations, internal standards, security policies, and risk management frameworks.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot technical problems during development and post-implementation, providing ongoing support for issue resolution, system enhancements, and process improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for technical designs, workflows, data mappings, and system integration plans.
  • Contribute to project plans by estimating technical effort and identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Identify inefficiencies in banking operations and recommend solutions to improve workflows and system functionalities.
  • Utilize project management tools (Monday.com, Atlassian/Jira, etc.) to track assigned tasks/projects.
  • Support PMO efforts in planning and executing system upgrades, new implementations, and integration projects.
  • Stay current with banking industry trends, system development best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve system performance and compliance.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, or similar role.
  • Experience working in a banking or financial services industry (ideally SBA lending) is preferred.
  • Certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile or equivalent is preferred. 


Skills & Competencies:

  • Detailed knowledge of SQL, databases, BI tools (e.g., PowerBI)
  • Proven experience working with Microsoft Azure, API integrations, system architecture, banking software/core banking systems (e.g., Fiserv)
  • Proficient in gathering, analyzing, and documenting technical requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret system diagrams, workflows, and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with external vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. 
  • Full-time weekday position. Requires occasional evening and weekend hours to assist with off-hour IT tasks.
