SVP Head of Project Management Office (PMO)

Position Summary:

The SVP Head of PMO is the bank’s enterprise portfolio and delivery leader. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role leads the Project Management Office (PMO) that plans, prioritizes, and executes the bank’s most critical initiatives with specific focus on projects tied to SBA lending growth and modernization and Fintech Banking‑as‑a‑Service (BaaS) partnerships. The role owns project/portfolio governance, delivery methodologies, benefits realization, regulatory/audit readiness for projects, and cross‑functional coordination across Technology, Data/Analytics, Credit, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Product, and Partner Governance. This position will directly supervise a project management team, providing guidance and support to ensure successful project execution.

Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the PMO aligned to bank strategy and CTO priorities.
  • Run portfolio intake, business case review, prioritization, and capacity planning across SBA lending, BaaS, and data/analytics roadmaps.
  • Manage inter‑dependencies across Credit, Ops, Tech, Data, Product, Legal/Compliance, and Partners/Partner Governance.
  • Define and monitor delivery KPIs (on‑time, on‑budget, scope, value/benefits) and risk indicators (issues, defects, audit/exam findings, readiness).
  • Oversee SBA program modernization (e.g., LOS/LMS enhancements, automation, data & reporting).
  • Govern integrations to SBA systems (e.g., credit/E‑Tran) and coordinate SOP changes with the development team.
  • Partner with SBA Program, Credit, Operations, Data, and Tech leaders to reduce cycle time (application‑to‑funding), strengthen loan quality, and improve customer/partner experience.
  • Lead the integration processes for BaaS partner onboarding, new product launches, and ongoing change initiatives.
  • Coordinate with Partner Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Operations on partner SLAs/KPIs, issue remediation, incident response, and exam/audit readiness.
  • Mature hybrid delivery practices (Agile/iterative) suitable for regulated banking; coach teams on backlog management, release planning, and change control.
  • Utilize tools and reporting (e.g., Monday.com/Jira/Confluence) for a single source of truth on status, risks, and benefits.
  • Drive benefits realization management: track measurable outcomes, and partner with Finance to tie benefits to the P&L.
  • Ensure every initiative (tech, SBA, BaaS) has documented controls, testing, and evidence for internal audit and regulatory exams.
  • Oversee project‑level RFPs, SOWs, and SLAs; ensure vendor deliverables align to regulatory, security, resiliency, data governance, and privacy requirements.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing team of project managers and analysts.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and servant leadership.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in project management and IT.
  • Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training suitable to their position with the bank.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field. MBA or relevant master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Project Management Officer or similar role in the IT industry; preferably 10+ years in project/portfolio management within regulated financial services; 5+ years leading a PMO at Director/SVP level.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools (Monday.com, Atlassian/Jira, etc.).
  • Deep delivery leadership across SBA lending, Fintech BaaS, and data/analytics or reporting modernization in a bank setting is preferred.
  • Certifications: PMP, PgMP, PMI‑ACP/CSM, SAFe/Lean/Six Sigma; data governance or analytics certifications a plus.


Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Monday.com, Atlassian/Jira).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Banking tech and data stack familiarity (e.g., core systems; SBA LOS/LMS; data platforms such as Databricks/Azure Synapse).
  • BI/reporting tools (Power BI) and data quality/lineage tooling experience.
  • Expertise with the SBA lifecycle and controls (7(a)/504), including credit/E‑Tran connectivity, 1502 reporting, guaranty purchase readiness, servicing/liquidation workflows, and SOP change adoption.
  • Experience standing up PMO functions in high‑growth context (e.g., scaling BaaS programs, platform/data migrations, etc.).


Work Arrangement:

  • This position is remote.
  • Full-time weekday position. Requires occasional evening and weekend hours to assist with off-hour IT tasks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
