SBA Sr. Closer
Summary: The SBA Sr. Closer is responsible for preparing SBA/USDA forms, submission to the SBA/USDA and to ensure compliance and adherence to USDA/SBA SOP and First Bank of the Lake policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Knowledge of commercial lending and USDA/SBA lending processes are required to assist in the preparation of this information.
The ideal candidate must have extensive Government Guaranteed Lending experience.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Small Business Administration industry with capability to independently assess eligibility, package and close loans
- Knowledge of commercial lending documentation and/or operations in banking, law firm, title company or other related industry
- Detailed knowledge of the USDA/SBA SOP is required
- Fundamental knowledge of business financial statements and credit factors relating to commercial loans
- Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software applications (LaserPro, nCino, and Fiserv is a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well organized, ability to multi-task and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to change
Job Functions:
- Manage a closing pipeline of 8-12 SBA/USDA active loans with an average of 4 closings per month based upon product and complexity.
- Prepare and submit Preferred Lending ‘PLP’ loan requests via ETRAN.
- Ensure satisfaction of all USDA requirements are met as required by the Conditional Commitment
- Generate Closing Checklist and coordinate initial call with the borrower, BDO and attorneys.
- Work closely with the borrower, BDO and attorney to ensure a smooth closing process
- Responsible for timely communication with Borrower of missing items needed to complete loan closing
- Maintains control over loans in process to detect any potential and/or developing problems and ensure all department managers are informed of the issues
- Order flood certifications, tax transcripts, UCC/Federal/State/County preliminary lien searches, title commitments and request from borrower the essential loan documentation as indicated by Underwriter, First Bank of the Lake, SBA/USDA procedures to ensure completeness of loan files.
- Reconcile equity injection and make final verification determination
- Knowledge of AIA contracts, permits, builder’s risk and other construction documents so that you may coordinate a smooth handoff to the SBA Construction Coordinator
- Build electronic loan folder and scans loan documents into FBOL system of record
- Follow internal audit procedures to ensure files are properly documented
- Must complete all required training, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-money Laundering training, suitable to their position within the bank.
- Other projects as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Travel as required for in-person meetings and / or training.
